Hello!
Let me be the first to welcome you to Quebec City! As a newcomer, I understand how overwhelming it can be integrating into a new culture, especially when you don’t speak the language. A simple task, such as grocery shopping or ordering coffee at Tim Horton’s becomes stressful. The best advice that was given to me was to integrate into the Québec culture but to do so without leaving my previous identity behind.  I was encouraged to participate in as many Anglophone or bilingual activities as possible. I would like to encourage all of you to do the same. Stay as connected as possible and participate in as many activities as you can. It truly can make a difference in your quality of life here.

As one of the Newcomer Coordinators, I am responsible for the popular Finding Your Niche Events as well as meeting and following up with newcomers. Our activities are one of the many ways that can help newcomers feel more at home. If you have not already signed up as a newcomer I strongly encourage you to do so.

VEQ has an abundance of resources available for all newcomers so feel free to stop by or make an appointment to learn more about what we have to offer. I look forward tomeeting you and I wish you the best of luck.
