Several companies supply natural gas in the region and can be found under “Gaz-Compagnies” in the yellow pages. One of the more well known companies is Gaz Métropolitain at 1-800-361-4568 or www.gazmetro.com.

Bell Canada supplies both local and long-distance telephone services in most of Greater Québec. In addition, some private companies also provide telephone service in various areas.

There is a monthly cost for a basic residential service, plus a one-time hook up charge. If jack work is needed, more charges will apply, unless you choose to do your own wiring inside your home or hire someone to do the work for you. As for repairs, there is a charge for fixing interior wiring; however repairs to exterior wires are included in your monthly rate. You can either rent or buy a telephone, but beware! Bell only repairs telephone sets rented from them.

A few companies provide cable TV service in the region. Vidéotron (www.videotron.com) is the largest serving most of the Québec City area. Coopérative de Cablodistribution de l’Arrière Pays (www.ccapcable.com) serves Stoneham and Tewkesbury, Sainte-Brigitte-de-Laval, Lac-Beauport, Lac St-Charles, NDL Bon-Pasteur, and parts of Charlesbourg. Shannon Vision and the Cablodistributeur Ste-Catherine Fossambault serve the towns that share their names. Consult the yellow pages for the telephone numbers for these cable companies under “Câblodistributeurs” or call your local municipal office.
