$40,000 approved for a bilingual theatre production for youth by youth!
VEQ is excited to announce the approval of funding from Canadian Heritage’s Enhancement of Official Languages Program – Promotion of Linguistic Duality for Collective Voices: a bilingual youth theatre project creating open dialogue.
This project intends to create, produce and present a bilingual theatre piece for youth by youth as a creative medium to facilitate dialogue between Francophone and Anglophone youth by building the project’s layout and content around their experiences with languages.
The program will begin April 2011. For more information or to be part of this initiative please contact Heather McRae by phone at 418-683-2366 ext. 224 or by e-mail at firstname.lastname@example.org.
Pen Pal Project
VEQ, in partnership with Heritage Canada, has developed a pen pal project focuses on language and culture exchange between Grade 4, 5 and 6 students in English and French schools in the Quebec City region. Each school will exchange letters in their own language which will help bridge the English and French youth communities.
If you would like to participate or know someone who would, please contact VEQ Project Coordinator Heather McRae at 418-683-2366 ext. 224, or email@example.com.
Art and Culture Project
Twice a week students meet at the studio andpush their imaginations to the limit. This program offers a safe space for youth to try out different types of painting and drawing in a completely English setting.
Supplies and snacks are provided for the students. The program has been a success, with classes filling up quickly.
At the end of the sessions the students will have an opportunity to display their work at the larger annual art showcase Exposition Révélation 2010.
A special thanks goes to Gail Quinn for all her hard work.
